About EI8JAB
I'm a ham radio operator, fascinated by the magic of connecting with people across the globe through radio waves. My call sign is EI8JAB, and I'm based in the West of Ireland. My journey into this hobby began with a childhood fascination with communication and technology. I was captivated by the idea of sending and receiving messages over long distances, and amateur radio offered the perfect platform to explore this. It's more than just a hobby; it's a community, a passion, and a constant source of learning and discovery.
EI8JAB - My Radio Station
My station is located in the West of Ireland and operates on various HF bands. I use a Yaesu FT-710 with a end-fed 20m wire antenna. You can see photos of my setup below.

The Mayo Radio Experimenters Network is based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. Ireland.The club was established in 1997 by a number of like minded amateur radio operators from the Mayo area, John McDonnell, EI6IR, was the first Chairperson.
The society has an active membership of people involved in the hobby of amateur radio. The club holds it’s meetings on the first Wednesday of every month at 9.00p.m. local time in Breaffy House Hotel, Breaffy, near Castlebar. Anybody interested in amateur radio, short-wave listening, electronics, computers etc. are very welcome to come along.
